What makes a pool deck California minimalist
California minimalist design is about clean lines, open space, and a limited palette of materials. Instead of busy patterns or many different finishes, the deck relies on one light concrete surface, simple geometric shapes, and bold contrast from green turf.
The result feels calm, modern, and uncluttered, and it pairs well with contemporary South Florida architecture. The same approach shows up in our Parkland sunken lounge project.
A chic sunken lounge beside the pool
The sunken lounge sits below the main deck level with built-in steps leading down into it. Recessed seating areas like this create a cozy, defined spot for conversation and relaxing, while keeping the rest of the deck open for sunbathing and walking.
A lounge below grade needs drainage planned from the start, with sloped surfaces and a drain to move rainwater out after South Florida storms. You can see the floor drain in the center of this lounge.
Clean artificial grass accents
Artificial grass rectangles line the deck on both sides of the sunken lounge, and a slim turf border traces the shape of the pool. A larger turf-filled area beside the pool adds a soft, green accent to the layout.
The turf stays green all year without mowing or watering, so the contrast against the concrete stays sharp. See more on our concrete and artificial grass page.
Low-maintenance luxury for South Florida
A light concrete deck with turf accents is easy to live with. There are no grass edges to trim around the pool, no wood to seal, and fewer joints to collect debris. Regular rinsing keeps the deck looking clean.

How to plan your Davie pool deck project
Start with how you use your backyard: lounging, hosting, swimming, or a mix. From there, a clear plan covers the layout, sunken lounge or seating areas, turf accents, drainage, materials, and any permits the Town of Davie requires.
Concrete Solutions Today designs and builds pool decks, sunken lounges, turf, and outdoor living as one team. If you live in Davie or nearby Cooper City, Plantation, or Southwest Ranches, visit our Davie service page, see our Davie concrete upgrade project, or request a free design consultation.
