Concrete driveways in Fort Lauderdale.

Built for Fort Lauderdale

A driveway planned for your lot and your street.

Older Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods often have narrow lots, alley access, and limited staging space, so demolition, forming, and concrete delivery have to be planned carefully. Waterfront and coastal homes also benefit from finishes and sealers chosen for salt exposure.

In Fort Lauderdale, the driveway approach and swale are in the city right-of-way and need an engineering permit. Homeowners can’t do right-of-way work themselves, but a State of Florida Certified General Contractor like us can pull those permits.

Recent Fort Lauderdale work includes a waterfront home with a concrete and turf panel driveway across the full frontage, a sunburst-pattern driveway with turf joints that fan out from the front walk, and a pool deck with turf joints beside a wood gazebo.

Fort Lauderdale driveway permits

What the Fort Lauderdale permit asks for.

We’re a State of Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1527850). We prepare the permit package, submit it, and schedule every inspection. Here’s what the city looks for:

  • Driveway approaches and swales in the right-of-way need an engineering (ROW) permit. For single-family homes and duplexes, these qualify for the city’s walk-thru review.
  • Homeowners are not permitted to perform work in the right-of-way. A State of Florida Certified General Contractor can pull permits for this limited work.
  • Sidewalks must be 6 inches thick where they cross a driveway.
  • Plans include a certified survey and site plan showing grades and stormwater flow.
  • Applications are submitted online through LauderBuild, and a recorded Notice of Commencement is required on jobs over $5,000.

How a Fort Lauderdale driveway gets built

Four steps from design to final inspection.

Each step settles the decisions the next one depends on, so the jobsite stays organized.

01

Design + measure

We measure the site, check your survey and setbacks, and lay out panels, joints, and the approach.

02

Permit + approvals

We prepare the Fort Lauderdale permit package and any HOA submittal, then schedule the work once approved.

03

Prepare + pour

Demolition, grading, compaction, forming, and reinforcement, then a coordinated pour and finish.

04

Inspect + complete

We pass final inspection, review edges and drainage with you, and leave care instructions.

Fort Lauderdale driveway questions

What Fort Lauderdale homeowners ask first.

Clear answers before you get quotes.

Do I need a right-of-way permit for my driveway in Fort Lauderdale?+

If the work includes the driveway approach, swale, or sidewalk, yes. Fort Lauderdale requires an engineering (right-of-way) permit for that work. As a Certified General Contractor, we can pull it.

Can I do the driveway approach myself?+

No. The City of Fort Lauderdale does not allow homeowners to perform work in the right-of-way. It must be done by a qualified licensed contractor.

What finish holds up best near the coast?+

Broom and exposed-aggregate finishes give good traction in heavy rain, and a quality penetrating sealer helps protect the surface from salt and staining. We recommend options based on how close you are to the water.

Can you work on tight lots and alley-access homes?+

Yes. We plan demolition, staging, and concrete delivery around narrow lots and limited access so the street and neighbors are protected during the pour.
