Broward County pool deck contractor

Pool decks in Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale pool decks deal with salt air, flood zones, and tight waterfront lots. We build decks that drain well, stay cool enough to walk on, and pass the City’s survey, zoning, and flood reviews.

Built for Fort Lauderdale

A pool deck planned for your yard and your pool.

Many Fort Lauderdale homes sit on canals or in flood zones, so the deck’s elevation and drainage matter as much as the finish. We set grades from the survey and plan where water goes before we pick materials.

Waterfront and coastal decks also need finishes that hold up to salt and sun. Light concrete, travertine, and turf joints stay cooler underfoot and resist staining when they’re sealed properly.

Recent Fort Lauderdale work includes a backyard pool deck with artificial turf joints beside a wood gazebo. See the photos below.

Fort Lauderdale pool deck permits

What the Fort Lauderdale permit asks for.

We’re a State of Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1527850). We prepare the permit package, submit it, and schedule every inspection. Here’s what the city looks for:

  • All exterior work requires a current survey and a site plan locating the proposed work. Patios and decks can be submitted with a copy of a current survey and a completed Zoning Affidavit.
  • Applications are submitted online through the City’s LauderBuild portal.
  • On pool permits, a Certified General Contractor (not a CBC or CRC) may build the pool shell and related structural elements, including a structural deck.
  • Pool plans must show the flood zone, with Base Flood Elevation and Design Flood Elevation.
  • Tree and palm protection is required for all proposed construction, including trees along the path equipment takes to the rear yard.

How a Fort Lauderdale pool deck gets built

Four steps from design to final inspection.

Each step settles the decisions the next one depends on, so the pool stays protected and the jobsite stays organized.

01

Design + measure

We measure the pool and yard, check your survey and setbacks, and plan the layout, elevations, coping, and drainage.

02

Permit + approvals

We prepare the Fort Lauderdale permit package and any HOA submittal, then schedule the work once approved.

03

Remove + build

Careful demolition around the coping and shell, then base, reinforcement, and the new deck surface.

04

Inspect + complete

We pass final inspection, check slope and edges with you, and leave care and sealing instructions.

Fort Lauderdale pool deck questions

What Fort Lauderdale homeowners ask first.

Clear answers before you get quotes.

Do I need a survey for a pool deck permit in Fort Lauderdale?+

Yes. The City requires a current survey and a site plan for all exterior work. For patios and decks, a copy of a current survey with a completed Zoning Affidavit is accepted.

Can a general contractor build my pool deck?+

Yes. Fort Lauderdale’s pool checklist states that a Certified General Contractor can build the pool shell and structural elements, including a structural deck. We’re a Florida CGC (CGC1527850).

Does being in a flood zone affect my deck?+

It can. Pool plans must show the flood zone and elevations, and the deck’s grade affects where water goes in a storm. We plan elevations and drainage from the survey before choosing finishes.

What deck finish stays coolest by the water?+

Light-colored concrete, travertine, and turf joints stay cooler underfoot than dark pavers. A quality penetrating sealer helps protect them from salt and staining.
