Built for Boca Raton

Turf designs that stop at the property line.

Boca Raton homeowners often want a turf-joint driveway that runs from the garage to the street. The City’s swale rules don’t allow synthetic turf in the right-of-way, so we switch the pattern to plain concrete or approved sod at the property line and keep the design looking intentional.

Many Boca communities also have architectural review. We prepare drawings and samples for the HOA, and on larger projects we account for the City’s landscape review criteria, which favor drought-tolerant choices and consolidated lawn areas.

Boca Raton turf rules

What Boca Raton and the state ask for.

We’re a State of Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1527850). We check the rules for your lot, prepare any permit, and schedule inspections. Here’s what applies:

  • Synthetic turf is not permitted in the City’s right-of-way under Sec. 25-255. Swale improvement applicants initial a statement that their work won’t include turf.
  • Any landscaping change in the City right-of-way needs an Engineering right-of-way permit.
  • Turf areas also have to meet the state standards for drainage, trees and waterbodies on single-family lots of 1 acre or less.
  • Since May 19, 2026, Florida Rule 62-308.100 sets minimum standards for synthetic turf on single-family lots of 1 acre or less. Under section 125.572, Florida Statutes, a city can’t ban turf on those lots that meets the standards, but it can still regulate drainage and environmental impacts.
  • The state standards keep turf out of swales, ditches and stormwater ponds, out of tree drip lines unless a certified arborist approves, and away from lakes and canals, and they don’t allow in-ground irrigation of turf areas.

Turf rules changed in 2026 and cities are still updating their codes, so we confirm the current requirements with the city before every job. This is general information, not legal advice.

How a Boca Raton turf job gets built

Four steps from layout to finished lawn.

The base in step three decides whether the turf drains after a summer storm, so we don’t rush it.

01

Design + measure

We measure the area, note trees, drains and easements on your survey, and choose turf and infill with you on your Boca Raton property.

02

Permit + approvals

We prepare the Boca Raton turf or landscaping permit and any HOA submittal, and schedule the install once approved.

03

Remove + base

We remove sod and roots, cap sprinkler heads in turf areas, set edging, and compact a washed, porous rock base without sealing the soil below.

04

Lay, seam + infill

We roll out and seam the turf, anchor every edge, brush in the infill, and walk the finished area with you.

Boca Raton turf questions

What Boca Raton homeowners ask first.

Clear answers before you get quotes.

Can turf go all the way to the street in Boca Raton?+

No. Boca Raton doesn’t allow synthetic turf in the City right-of-way, which includes the swale. We end the turf pattern at the property line and finish the apron in concrete.

Can I replace my front lawn with turf?+

On single-family lots of 1 acre or less, state law now limits how cities can restrict turf that meets state standards. Your HOA may still have its own rules. We review both before designing a front yard.

How do turf joints hold up on a driveway?+

Well, when each joint has a drained, compacted base and the turf is anchored at the edges. On the Boca Raton driveways above, the joints are sized so tires ride mostly on concrete.

Can you build a putting green in my backyard?+

Yes. We build putting greens with a shaped base, putting-grade turf, and fringe turf around them, often next to the pool or patio.
